北京公主坟位于复兴门外的街心花园，是因这里原葬有清朝清仁宗嘉庆皇帝的庄敬和硕公主和庄静固伦公主而得名。两位公主同年而亡，分别葬于东、西两边。历史上，“公主坟”称为王佐村，清末改称苑家村，日伪时期改称“公主坟”。现有公主坟立交桥和北京地铁公主坟站。
北京公主坟的来历
其中，庄敬和硕公主为嘉庆第三女，为和裕皇贵妃所生，生于乾隆四十六年十二月。她于嘉庆六年十一月，下嫁蒙古亲王索特纳木多布济。嘉庆十六年三月卒，年三十一岁。西边葬的是庄静固伦公主，为嘉庆四女，为孝淑睿皇后所生，生于乾隆四十九年。她于嘉庆十六年五月卒，年二十八岁。
因清朝的祖制，公主下嫁，死后不得入皇陵，也不能进公婆墓地，必须另建坟茔，故北京郊区有很多公主坟，有的地方现仍叫公主坟。因庄敬和硕公主和庄静固伦公主是同年而亡，仅隔二个月，所以就埋葬在同一处。
公主坟的墓地原有围墙、仪门、享殿等地面建筑，四周及里面广植古松、古柏和国槐、银杏等树木，显得古色古香。地宫均为砖石结构，非常坚固。双墓均为夫妻合葬墓，陪葬品有兵器、蒙古刀及珠宝、丝绸等物。
